A nationally publicized event on mitigating severe weather impacts at the Tulsa Convention Ctr.  Packet stuffing help needed March 26-31.  Many volunteers needed before, during, and after the event.  Contact Project Impact at 596-9626.


April 2   
Special Olympics Oklahoma      "Golf"
Golf events will be held at LaFortune Park Golf Course.  Volunteers are needed in many capacities, such as
photography, registration, activity area, and giving general directions.  YOUTH (min. age 13).  Contact Derek Cain at 357-9237.

April 5      Tulsa Area Alliance on Disabilities      " Job Fair Buddy"
Staff a table, distribute job fair manuals, deliver lunches, or act as a guide for a person with a disability who is attending
the Metro Job Fair, 1-4:30pm, Apr. 5.  Two-hour shifts.  Contact Emily Miller at 585-5551 or EmilyLMiller@aol.com

April 6      Youth Services of Tulsa      "Radio Days"  Volunteer
Special event which includes dinner, silent auction, and amateur hour with local celebrities.  Volunteers are needed to
decorate, assist the caterer with dinner, work the auction, and clean up after the show.  Must be 21.  Held at OSU-Tulsa.  Contact Darlene Tegler at 582-0061.

April 7
      Special Olympics Oklahoma      "Athletics"
Athletic events will be held at  East Central High School.  Volunteers are needed in many capacities, such as
photography, registration, activity area, and giving general directions.  YOUTH (min. age 13).  Contact Derek Cain at 357-9237.

April 7
      National Multiple Sclerosis Society      "MS Walk"
An event for the whole family!  Volunteers are needed to staff rest stops and finish line, oversee safety concerns, and help
 with set up and clean up.  The 5-mile route begins at Cascia Hall at 9am.  YOUTH.  Contact the MS office at 488-0882.

April 13-14
      Tulsa Garden Center      "Spring Garden Mart"
Volunteers needed to be market cashiers, help vendors, and assist with plant sales.  Hours are 9am-4pm.  Help is also
needed the week before to repot and perk up donated plants.  Set up Apr. 11-13.  YOUTH (min. age 16)  Contact Diana Askins at 746-5136.

April 14
      Tulsa Area Conservation Foundation      "Jones/Mill Creek Cleanup"
Volunteers will remove litter from Jones & Mill creeks and stencil storm drains with the message "No Dumping - Drains to
 River."  A volunteer lunch and award presentation is included.  9am-1pm, McClure Park, 7th St. & Memorial.  YOUTH.  Contact Kristi Taylor at 280-1595.

April 17-29
      Keep Tulsa Beautiful      "Operation CleanSweep"
Volunteer groups will select a time, date, and area of the city for clean-up (public areas only).  Keep Tulsa Beautiful will
provide trash bags and coordinate disposal if necessary.  Groups are especially encouraged to participate on Earth Day, April 22.  Contact Michael Patton at 584-0584

April 28
      American Heart Association      "Mass CPR Event"
Help with registration, hospitality, parking, etc., at the fairgrounds.  Shifts are 7:30-9:30am, 11:30am-1:30pm or all day.
YOUTH (min. age 12).  To help with advance registration activities call Leaha Kopp at 596-3600.  To help day of event,  Contact Sandy Eseslick at 592-1991.

April 28-29
     Metropolitan Environmental Trust      "Spring Household Pollutants            Collection"
Direct traffic, pour paint, and distribute free paint at the fairgrounds.  Volunteers will not have actual contact with pollutants.  Safety training and free lunch provided.  Shifts from 8:30am-1pm and 12:30pm-4pm both days.  YOUTH (min. age 17).  Contact the MET office at 584-0584.


May-July
      Tulsa Little League Baseball      "Volunteer Umpires"
Batter up!  Volunteer to umpire one evening a week or more for the summer.  Games for ages 5-18 begin June 1, M-F,
evenings, at LaFortune Park.  Umpire training held in May.  Lots of benefits for volunteers!  YOUTH welcome (min. age 14).  Contact John Hess at 299-9567 or Rob Wheeler at 747-0008.

May 1
      Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa      "Invitational Golf Tournament"
Volunteers needed for set-up and running of this golf tournament at Meadow Brook Golf Course.  Set-up, registration,
contest monitors, fore caddies, "go-fors", prize party, and clean-up.  2-3 hr. shifts.  Contact Meals on Wheels office at 627-4103.

May 4
      TARC (Advocates for the Rights of Citizens w/ Developmental Disabilities)  "Shot in the Dark" Golf Tournament
Play golf in the dark with glow-in-the-dark golf balls at LaFortune Park.  Volunteers assist with sales, registration, serving food, auction, monitoring holes, and moving teams around the course.  Registration 6:30pm, Golf 9pm-12am.  Contact Mary Ferguson at 582-8272.

May 5
      Humane Society of Tulsa      "Paws in the Park"
A dog walk with a "village" atmosphere and a live remote with KVOO.  Held at Hunter Park.  Help with setup, registration,
 parking, walk, games, contests, photography, adoptions, and more.  Free T-shirt.  Rain date May 12.   YOUTH (min. age 14).  Contact Karen Sanders at 296-5379 or ssand@ion.net

May 5
      Tulsa Area Safe Kids      "Safe Kids Go to Camp Bandage"
Hand out safety materials, refreshments, "crowd control", bike rodeos, prize drawings, etc.  Held at Medicine Square
Gardens, 15800 S. 193rd E. Ave., Broken Arrow. YOUTH.  Contact Mary Beth Ogle at 494-7233.

May 5
      March of Dimes Birth Defects - Eastern OK Division      "Muskogee Walk America"                       
Volunteers needed for Muskogee Walk America to help with registration, rest areas, and refreshments.  Held at Muskogee Civic Center. Registration 9am, Walk 10am. YOUTH (min. age 14).  Contact Susan Payne at spayne2@modimes.org


May 5
      Family & Children's Service, Inc.      "Black Tie Bingo"
Volunteer to set up, decorate, sell tickets, and help with silent auction at this event, scheduled to begin at 6:30pm at the
Southern Hills Marriott.  YOUTH (min. age 16).  Contact Tiffany Brooks at 587-4605, ext. 31.

May 12-13
      American Lung Association      "Home Tour"
Volunteers will help direct traffic through the various houses on the home tour.  Assist with ticket taking at the door of
each house.  Sat., 9:30am-4pm, Sun., 1-4pm.  YOUTH.  Contact Lisa Cole at 747-3441, ext. 203.

May 12
      Tulsa Community Food Bank      "Letter Carriers Food Drive" (NALC)
More than one hundred volunteers are needed to sort and box donated food that is picked up by letter carriers while on
their routes.  Saturday before Mother's Day.  A great event for whole family volunteering!   YOUTH.  Contact Joanne Burdick at 585-2800.

May 12
      March of Dimes Birth Defects - Eastern OK Division  "Tulsa Walk America"  
Volunteers needed to help with registration, manning the rest areas, and handing out refreshments. Held at LaFortune Park. Registration 9am, Walk 10am. Office volunteers needed during the month prior to event.  YOUTH (min. age 14).  Contact Susan Payne at spayne2@modimes.org

May 16-18
      Special Olympics Oklahoma      "State Summer Games"
The Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games includes all spring sports.  The event takes place at OSU in Stillwater
during the second full week in May.  Volunteers are needed in numerous capacities. YOUTH.  Contact April Morton at 481-1234.

May 17-20
      Downtown Tulsa Unlimited      "Mayfest"
Volunteers can work at coupon, beverage, or souvenir booths, help with activities in the KidZone, provide breaks for
exhibiting artists, and more.  This event is a fun way to meet other people or volunteer as a group.  YOUTH (min. age 16)  Contact Bob Hendrick at 582-6435.

May 19
      Cystic Fibrosis Foundation      "Great Strides Walk-A-Thon"
Volunteers can help at this 10K walk at the Tulsa Zoo by staffing the registration booth and assisting at food and
refreshment stops.  Volunteers needed from 9am-Noon.  Contact Jan Jackson at 744-6354.

June 1-17
      Tulsa Repertory Theatre      "Shakespeare in the Park -                 Midsummers Night Dream"
Crowd control, programs, first aid, T-shirt sales, trash detail, and backstage help for 8pm performances at Woodward Park (every night except Mon.).  Or call NOW to help with set construction, costumes, posters, etc.  YOUTH (min. age 17).  Contact Diane Gawey at 584-7000.


June 1
      Asian American Community Service Association     "Asian Festival 2001"
Volunteers needed to set up chairs and tables, sell food tickets and drinks, teach kids how to make kites, and clean up afterwards.  Held at 11322 E. 21st St. (old Tulsa City Limits).  11am-3pm.  YOUTH (min. age 14).  Contact Jane Han at 234-7431.

June 1-2
      American Cancer Society      "Relay for Life"
Volunteers needed to work at the survivorship tent, stuff goody bags, and help with the all-night walk/run.   7pm-7am. 
Corporate sponsorship team  members are also needed.  Held at Schusterman Center, 41st & Yale.  YOUTH (min. age 15).  Contact Linda Roundtree at 258-0519.

June 2
      Leadership Tulsa      "Tulsa Treasure Hunt"
Volunteers needed to assist with check-in points.  YOUTH (min. age 15).  Contact Kim Camp at 477-7079.


June 2-8; June 30-July 6
      Muscular Dystrophy Association      "Camp Counselor"
Assist campers during either 5-day camp session.  Volunteers are trained prior to the start of camp and required to stay
at the campsite in Guthrie for the full 5 days and nights.  Campers have MD and related disorders.  YOUTH (min. age 16).  Contact MDA office at (405) 722-8001.

June 4
      Little Light House      "Little Ones Golf Tournament"
Volunteers can assist with setting up, lining up prize donations, directing crowds, registering golfers, and running
errands.  Held at Meadow Brook Golf Course on 81st St.  YOUTH (min. age 16).  Contact Michele Hartman at 664-6746.

June 6 - July 1
      Gilbert & Sullivan Society      "Light Opera Oklahoma (LOOK)"
Volunteers needed to take and count tickets, hand out programs, usher patrons to their seats, and serve concessions at
intermission.  Evenings 7-10:30pm, matinees 1-4:30pm.  Contact David Stambaugh at 585-2671.

June 7-9      Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 524  "   StandDown for Homeless Veterans"
An annual event providing food and other services to homeless veterans and their families.  Volunteers work shifts of 4
hrs. or more.  Held at corner of Main & Cameron downtown.  Contact Melissa Johnson at 476-4067 or cwolfman45@hotmail.com

June 11-17
      Tulsa Volunteer Center      "U.S. Open"
Volunteer in a concession booth at this exciting national golf tournament at Southern Hills.  Free admission and parking.
Shifts are 5:30am-2pm and 10:30am-6pm (20 volunteers needed per shift).  Plan to attend a 4-hr. training.  YOUTH (min. age 16).  Contact Mary Finley at 585-5551 or mfinley@csctulsa.org.

      Tulsa County Park Department      "Summer Day Camp"
Knowledgeable volunteers to teach day camp activities in their area of expertise to ages 6-11.  Science, nature, self
defense, drama, clowning, magic, & cheerleading are options.  Each option meets MWF, 11am-Noon, for one week in June or July.  YOUTH 16+.  Contact Gay Wetherill at 596-8620.

June 22-24
      Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve     "KidsFest"
Volunteers will staff craft and activity booths at this exciting 3-day children's festival.  Shifts are 9am-2:30 pm or 1:30-6pm
 each day.  Volunteers receive free admission, lunch, and T-shirt.   YOUTH (min. age 13).  Contact Connie Collins at (918) 336-0307, ext. 10.

June 23
      Camp Fire Boys and Girls     "Just Plane Fun"
An annual fundraising event held at Tulsa Technology Center (riverside campus).  Volunteers will help with activity booths,
 concessions, and games.  Event is scheduled 9am-1pm.  Contact Mendy Mayberry at 592-2267.

June 29
      Muscular Dystrophy Association      "Night Light Run"
Help with bulk mailing, stuffing packets, and data entry at MDA office.  At the race site, register volunteers, help with food
